Tutorial

The website is perfect for someone with a question who is trying to find an answer, but someone like me, (or maybe anyone else) who is trying to learn about mathematics, might want to study instead of answering questions!

So it could be a good idea to have a part filled with question (with or without answers) and the ways these questions can be solved!
I have seen that there are some examples on front page of each subjects, but they are not a lot, and also, they are so specific, and they do not teach anything!

The General_problem-solving_tips page is what I'm thinking about, but it is n

RSS Feeds for Articles

Seems fairly straight forward and basic (could even be there and I've missed it?) It'd be really nice to be notified along with my other RSS feeds in my reader application.

Commutative diagrams?

I couldn't get \xymatrix to work inside maths mode, so I ended up posting a commutative diagram as an image. Is there something else I should be trying?

Private messages

Related to the Tricki Info/Stats for members, I suggest also to add a "Private Message" tool to Members pages (you know, you hit it and you write a private email / little quick message only to that member).

Redirecting / Multiple titles

Some discussions about the best possible title for an article could be shot down if we allowed several titles for every page, like they do at Wikipedia or Mathworld. The thing is, one of the titles is considered "the good one", and the others are like replacements to help finding the correct content via Search (when the user gets the article, he sees the good title and below it the phrase "Redirected from [replacement title]".

Incompleteness warning

This arose out of a discussion about the definition of a stub. I think it would be a very useful feature if there could be a little symbol, such as a small "i" with a circle round it, next to any link to an article that has been marked up as incomplete. Then readers would know that the leaf symbol meant "Don't expect to find any mathematical content here" and the incompleteness symbol meant "There will be at least some mathematical content here, but don't get your hopes up." I think this could be very nice indeed, and make navigation even smoother than it already is.

TeX Resource Links

This expression:

results in this HTML markup:

<img class="inline_tex" src="/images/tex/2107ced94a4ad93ad96996ea37af9eb8.png" alt="(\rho,\sigma;\rho^4,\sigma^2,(\rho\sigma)^2)">

Notice that the actual TeX is present in the (value of the) alt attribute. That's what we call "semantic" in the HTML standards world and that's a Good Thing.

However, it could be even a little bit better.

Members list and stats

How about a "directory", a list of members where we can see who is who? (I don't know if its already implemented somewhere). We could have just the same as you see when you click on the nick of anyone, plus info about what articles have they started, in which have they collaborated, number of posts in articles and in forums, etc (member stats).

Recent articles

There is a discontinuity on the Tricki that I'm not too fond of, which is that an article suddenly goes from highly visible to almost invisible when it slips out of the top eight most recent articles. To counteract that, would it be possible to have an option for viewing a list of all articles arranged chronologically (with the most recent articles first) rather than alphabetically?

Signature

Could we have a signature to appear at the end part of comments, forum posts, etc? We could put there our areas of expertise, our webpages or even a catch phrase. In that case, there should be a tool to activate/deactivate signatures when writing posts.
