Commenting out text

Commenting out text

There may already be a way of doing this, but I don't know it. I have quite often found myself wanting to see what an article would look like with something removed. In a LaTeX document I'd just comment it out and then undo that if I decided I wanted to keep it after all. It would be nice to be able to do that here. (The particular example I have in mind is an article with a manually created contents list and an automatically generated one. I can't quite decide whether there's any point in having them both.) I realize one could in theory delete the text in question and then revert to the old version, but that isn't very elegant and wouldn't work if you did some editing in between.
